Overview
Snip It! ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We believe in plain language — no legal jargon.
The short version: we collect only what we need to run the app, we never sell your data, and you can delete everything at any time.
What We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information — your email address and display name when you sign up.
- Coupon data — store name, discount amount, expiry date, barcode value, and any notes you add. This is stored securely in your account.
- Coupon photos — when you scan a coupon, the photo is sent to our AI provider for processing. Photos are used only to extract coupon details and are not stored by us or our AI provider after processing.
- Usage data — basic analytics such as which features you use, crash reports, and app performance data. This data is anonymised and aggregated.
How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your Snip It! account.
- To sync your coupons across your devices.
- To process coupon photos through AI scanning and return the extracted data to you.
- To send expiry reminders (if you have notifications enabled).
- To improve the app using anonymised usage analytics.
- To respond to support requests you send us.
Third-Party Services
We use a small number of trusted third parties to run the app:
- Supabase — provides our database and authentication infrastructure. Your coupon data and account information are stored on Supabase servers. Supabase is SOC 2 compliant. Learn more at supabase.com/privacy.
- Anthropic — provides the AI that reads your coupon photos. When you scan a coupon, the photo is transmitted to Anthropic's API for processing. Anthropic does not store the images after processing and does not use them for training. Learn more at anthropic.com/privacy.
We do not use advertising networks, third-party trackers, or analytics that identify you personally.
Data Storage and Security
Your coupon data is stored in a secure database managed by Supabase. Access is protected by row-level security — you can only access your own data. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.
We Never Sell Your Data
We will never sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Full stop.
Your Rights and Choices
- Access — you can view all your coupon data inside the app at any time.
- Deletion — you can delete individual coupons at any time. You can delete your entire account and all associated data from the account settings screen. Deletion is permanent and irreversible.
- Export — contact us at support@snipit.app to request a copy of your data.
- Notifications — you can disable expiry reminders in your device settings at any time.
Children's Privacy
Snip It! is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you within the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
